Sweet Sixteen
Wednesday, May 16th, 2007I’m down to sixteen days left here at work. I’m getting really restless. I’ve never given such a long notice before, and part of me feels like I should be gone by now.
On the other hand, I’m getting nervous about getting to San Francisco and finding a job that’s flexible with school. And finding a place to live.
On the other hand, I’m getting really excited about having time and space to devote to some artwork. In between work, packing, visiting with friends and family, I’m not wringing enough art out of my schedule. I want to have at least five strong prints to show when I return to school. At the beginning of each summer there is an orientation meeting where everyone has ten minutes to show recent work. This introduces new students to what current students are doing, and updates current students on what everyone else has been up to over the spring and fall semesters. I don’t want to be the guy who took time off and returned without doing any art.
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a video camera before I leave for San Francisco. I would really like to film and edit the batman piece before going back - it is pretty simple and I’ve been putting it off for many months. It would be easier to get Gordon to model for me one last time, than trying to meet someone new in San Fran or pay a model… I’ll have to figure out a plan for that.
Most importantly this weekend I have to get to the printmaking studio and print off the two polyester litho plates that I copied onto last Saturday. It’s time to finish a print.
