A Like-Minded Artist
A couple weeks ago before Melissa left, we ducked into City Arts Gallery for a moment to check it out. It’s a cooperative. There were several interesting works, one of which stood out to me as especially significant. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a web version of this work, but I tracked down a few others on Google, and have posted them here.

The painter of these delicious works of art is Kevin Mosley. Some information about him can be found here. And if you click THIS LINK you can read a little more about him than the City Arts Gallery website has to offer.

Jason,
I read Kevin P. Mosley’s statement “I prefer image repetition. The mundane and routine can and ought to be experienced as precious and worthy of attention.” I made me think of what Philip Glass does in music.
The circles and squares in the background of the bodybuilder made me think of designs associated with swimming pools.

Jason,
Upon looking at the sixteen briefs a few more times, I find that the background is so interesting that I can easily forget that the sixteen objects are briefs. Ordinarily paintings don’t make me think of music but this one started up “Sixteen Tons.” Maybe it that “deeper into” phrase that my subconsious was aiming it.
