I Often Shoot Myself
The Diego Gallery on the main campus is much nicer than the Swell Gallery and actually
gets a little public attention since there is always foot traffic from the street popping in to see what’s on display. The current show is titled “I Often Shoot Myself” featuring photographic self-portraiture by eighteen artists in the summer MFA program, one of them is me!
Of course I’m always excited by self-portraits and was eager to participate in this show, since I don’t have too many works that wouldn’t qualify. The invitation to participate was issued months ago, so my piece is kind of old. But it’s fun to see it on display, especially alongside a vast assortment of other artists playing with self-representation.

Jason,
Alastair Bolton’s Sebastian is fascinating. I take it that it is three photographs about a foot high. I also liked Face Value - Value Face by Heidi Maddess.
You gave me a print of “A Familiar Smile of Fascination.” I am fascinated but no one else to whom I have shown it seems interested. Maybe I just haven’t shown it to the “right” person yet.
