Lunchtime Pop-Quiz

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Choose the proper action for the following scenario:

On your lunch break you are standing in line in a small cafe. You are holding a twenty dollar bill, a can of pepsi, a bag of spicy-thai potato chips and a cup of split pea soup. In front of you is a very attractive young man wearing blue dress pants, a canary yellow shirt and a fetching necktie. There is a 50% chance that he might be homosexual. He offers the cashier his credit card. The cafe only accepts cash, and the cashier informs him that there are several ATM machines nearby. The very attractive young man laments that he has only a credit card, not debit. Dejectedly he sets his tray down, apologizes to the cashier and begins to walk away.

Do you…

A) Quickly offer to pay for his meal and ask if you join him at his table for lunch?

B) Quickly offer to pay for his meal, tell him “No problem, bro,” and regretfully return to your office to eat alone?

C) Admire the fine shapliness of his backside as he walks away, pay for your meal and regretfully return to your office to eat alone?

D) Admire the fine shapliness of his backside as he walks away, then chuckle and make a smart alec comment to the cashier, “God, even homeless people carry cash in San Francisco, what’s that guy’s problem?”

Guess which one I did.
