Another Weekend Gone

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I will now summarize my Memorial Day Weekend.

Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Possibly the worst movie I’ve seen in years. There is better fan-fic on the Internet than the script for this movie. It made me angry that the originators of this inspired genre-defining action franchise can be so out of touch with the craft of storytelling. Is this what comes with success? Money? Age? Indiana Jones and the Dead Alien Head. God, it was so stupid and not-exciting I could just spit. And even more infuriating is the box office success that the movie has flaunted this past weekend despite its atrocious lack of imagination.

Saturday I slept, and instead of working on art homework like I should have, I watched some online television and took a long nap. Sunday I slept in, watched a parade from the neighbor’s house, then came home for a long nap. Today I slept in, went to buy some much-needed new sneakers, and finally buckled down where I finished working on the opening 5 seconds of the Plunger Sketch. My goal is to finish half of the video project by June 13th.

Why so much sleeping? I think I’m depressed. I’m uninspired by the school stuff and totally distracted by work. And somehow I think I might be a little bit lonely.

I keep having to remind myself that all the reasons I keep putting off the artwork are nothing but my own inventions. If I could put the same amount of creativity that I use making up excuses why I can’t do any art today, I’d be coming up with some really cool art.  Today.

I think some really cool art is on its way. What makes me say this?  Well, I have a new video camera and Final Cut Express is currently being shipped to me.

Tonight before bed I’m watching this movie, “Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss.”  I’ve only seen this movie once, several years ago, but I think it’s a favorite.  The opening narrative sequence strikes particularly true right now.
