Bloody Mary Brunch

Melissa is working on a project for school and needed to gather some data about the way people make food selections. So yesterday she invited several friends and classmates to purchase a tomato from the market and bring it over to our house for a Bloody Mary party. After quiche, biscuits, and fruit salad, she took a survey about the way people selected their particular tomatoes, and then stewed the tomatoes and we made Bloody Marys.

It was great fun, tasty fun, and educational (for Melissa more than the rest of us).

Several people brought heirloom tomatoes, which come in a variety of shapes and colors. As a result, the Bloody Marys were not so bloody-looking, but resembled orange smoothies.

In no way, however, did they taste like orange smoothies. They were savory and spicy. Melissa’s research offers us two very important lessons:
1) Homework can be (and should be) delicious.
2) With the right amount of creativity, you can incorporate alcohol into anything!
