Queer Food for Love, Spring 2009
Presenting Queer Food for Love!
-
Last night I took the opportunity to get out of the house for a bit and check out the quarterly meal hosted by Queer Food For Love. I went a little bit early so I could lend a hand setting up and take some photos of the event.
It took place in an awesome loft-style gallery on Alabama street called a.Muse.

As I arrived, there were already about two dozen people setting up tables, organizing the refreshments table, washing dishes, and prepping the food.

Amazingly the meal is completely vegan, prepared by talented, passionate culinary artists.

By 6:30 people were lined up and already filling the space.

Even the waiting room area was full of people waiting for a table to open up.

I didn’t stay for the entire evening. I left a little after 7, but people were still arriving, and I have no doubt that it stayed crazy-busy until 9:30, possibly later. The Queer Food for Love is an awesome idea, bringing people together over food to strengthen the sense of community among queer-identified as well as non-queer-identified folk. And it’s organized so well - I felt like I was actually standing in the kitchen of a professional restaurant.
I am definitely looking forward to their next meal.
