Party for Brian

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

In honor of my friend Brian’s visit to San Francisco, our house had a little dinner party last night.  This is the first dinner party we’ve had without Melissa as top chef.  Still, the food turned out pretty well and everyone seemed to have a good time.

Lasagna

For dinner we prepared vegetarian lasagna and salad with pears and blue cheese, with chocolate cake and carrot cake for dessert.

The Mess Without Melissa at the helm, the food prep turned out to be a little messier than normal.   But practice makes perfect.

Carrot CakeUnfortunately for the party (but fortunately for me) the carrot cake took too long to bake and we were unable to serve it as dessert.  So I finished it this morning and it is the most splendid cake I ever had.

It was great to visit with Brian.  I haven’t seen him in nearly two years since moving here to San Francisco.  After his business conference was over on Friday we walked around the north part of the city.  I showed him my school, and Chinatown, and I’m pretty sure we both had blisters by the time we got back to my house for dinner.  After dinner we journeyed over to the Castro where I had my special celebrity sighting (see previous entry).  I’m all school-girl crushy today.  So funny.
