I’m in a printmaking class again! Fun times. I was really daunted by it, because so much time has passed since I was in a printmaking studio and I honestly have not retained the proper names for things like I should have. But the processes are still in my head.
The printmaking studio at SFAI is beautiful, and the smell of the inks - specifically burnt plate oil - takes me back to my senior year of Watkins in Leslie’s class with Amanda, Kristen, Brett, Lee Ann, Brian, and Will would stop in sometimes to visit during his sculpture class. Those were the beginnings of some really happy times, when I began to feel part of a community and gained a sense of personal direction. I’m not sure I’ve held on to either one very well.
